1972 Grumman AA1A Yankee

This is an unbelievable plane with 160hp engine conversion, dual tanks, full IFR panel and much more.  There are very few planes on the market more fun to fly than a Grumman and with the big engine conversion, you're sure to have a smile on your face every time you turn the key.  Over $34,000 was invested in this plane by the previous owner who unfortunately lost his medical and could no longer fly this beautiful machine.  This is as close as you can get to an RV-6A for less than half the price.

ENGINE:
Lycoming O-320-B2C 160hp
2083TT, 30 hours on Top engine overhaul with new cylinder assemblies
Engine runs GREAT with no oil leaks, great compression, great oil pressure and incredible amounts of horsepower.  It was installed on the Crosby STC and includes a very nice fuel flow transponder and gauge to accurately calculate fuel burn and quantity.

**UPDATE**Both Magnetos were just rebuilt, a new master switch installed and a brand new battery installed January, 2012.  A new vacuum pump installed February 2012.

AIRFRAME:
4660 TT since new
Split nosebowl
Auxilliary fuel tank conversion (34 gallon total capacity)
Airframe is in very good condition with no hail dents or damage and has been upgraded using the rudder cap and strobe light configuration.
Paint is a solid 7-8 on scale of 10 with clear glass, wheel pants and a canopy cover.  It was repainted in 2005 and looks really, really nice.
**DECALS are removeable**

The Grumman Yankee is one of the hidden jewels of aviation and one of the best flying planes on the market.  They are nimble, responsive and just plain fun to fly with great speeds and fuel economy.  The sliding canopy is a really neat feature that allows you to taxi in relative comfort on a hot day and can be opened in flight up to 130mph.  The Yankee has a very "fighteresque" feel to it that will put a smile on any pilot's face.  With the original 108hp engine, they are somewhat underpowered but with either the 150 or 160hp conversion, they are a ton of fun to fly.  The auxilliary fuel tank gives you the extra range when you need it or just fill the main tanks for short flights.
